Active Communities, April Update

Share this:

Happy April, everyone!

Earth Day, April 22nd, marks our next phase of outreach for the Active Communities Plan. The San Francisco Climate Action Plan has a target of reaching 80% low-carbon trips by 2030 – and increasing biking, scooting, and rolling trips is a great way to achieve that goal!

Since January, the Active Communities Plan team has reached over 1,000 residents at more than 20 events across San Francisco. We heard from people what being able to bike, scoot or roll means to them – as well as their most important priorities and challenges. We’ve taken all that input to help us shape our next phase of the project, from Earth Day through the end of July, and you can take our survey here.

We want people to share with us what could help you bike, scoot or roll more – like better parking options, more comfortable bike facilities, education programs or policies to make active transportation more affordable or accessible. We also want people to share with us how comfortable they would be biking, scooting or rolling on a broad variety of streets in San Francisco – different people experience the same street in different ways, Making a truly inclusive city for active transportation means we need to make streets comfortable for everyone.

It's a great time to get involved with the Active Communities Plan: Bike & Roll to School Week is coming up April 24-28, Bike Month starts May 1st and Bike to Wherever Day is coming up on May 18th. You can find a schedule on our project website.

The ACP project team is available to meet with community groups across the city, present information on the planning process and gather feedback. If you’d like to invite the project team to a community meeting, please email ActiveCommunities@SFMTA.com to schedule.

Roll with joy,
