Bree Mawhorter was appointed to the Chief Financial Officer position in November 2022. Bree has over fifteen years of public sector financial experience. Prior to joining the SFMTA, Bree served as the Deputy Director of Finance & Administration in San Francisco’s Office of Community and Investment and Infrastructure, where she directed finance and administrative functions for the office’s $565.8M budget, including its $395.8M capital budget. Prior to that, Bree was Chief Financial Officer/Deputy Director at the San Francisco Sherriff’s Department and Revenue Accounting and Administrative Policy Manager at the SFMTA. In addition to her work experience, Bree serves on the San Francisco Unified School District Citizen’s Bond Oversight Committee, is president of the Northern California Chapter of Women in Public Finance and served as the president of the San Francisco Finance Corporation from to 2019 to 2022. Bree holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University, a Master of Urban Planning degree from McGill University and a Master of Public Policy Degree from UC Berkeley.
