As of September 27, 2024, the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) ended the brake and lamp inspection programs.

Pursuant to §1113(s)(1)(B), when being inspected, each taxi must have a “[v]alid and current Brake Certificate issued by an official inspection station certified by the State of California within 60 days prior to inspection.” Given that brake certificates are no longer issued by BAR, enforcement of §1113(s)(1)(B) is suspended until further notice.
