Location: 1500 Geary Boulevard at Buchanan Street
# of Trees: One (1) Monterey Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa)
Posting Period: (30 days ) From: 1/11/2021 Through: 2/10/2021
As part of the Geary Rapid Project, the SFMTA proposes to remove the tree at the above location. The tree is in direct conflict with construction and excavation activities associated with building a new signalized crosswalk and median refuge at Geary Boulevard and Buchanan Street. While extensive efforts have been made to try to retain the tree, no feasible design alternative was found.
A minimum of eight (8) new street trees are planned to be planted on this block of Geary Boulevard between Webster and Laguna streets, four prunus Subhirtella and four yarwood.
Members of the public objecting to this action must protest in writing to the SFMTA. Protests must be made within the posting period, or postmarked no later than the last date of the posting period. Protests can be sent to the following:
San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency - Sustainable Streets Division
ATTN: Daniel Mackowski
1 South Van Ness Ave, 7th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94103
Or email: GearyRapid@SFMTA.com
If the tree removal is protested within the posting period, a public hearing will be scheduled.
