The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is holding a virtual public hearing via this website starting on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 9 a.m. through Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 11 p.m. The purpose of the virtual public hearing is to get public feedback on the below proposals.
In 2022, the project was approved to become permanent by the SFMTA Board of Directors, except for Clay Street between Stockton Street and Grant Avenue, where afternoon transit lane hours remain in effect on a temporary basis. Evaluation has shown that bus travel times on this block are about 7% quicker today with the transit lane in place, even while traffic has been increasing citywide. To ensure a more continuous, predictable travel experience for bus riders, the SFMTA recommends making the afternoon transit lane hours here permanent.
In response to feedback we have heard about parking loss, we are also proposing to restore afternoon parking on the south side of two blocks of Sacramento between Mason and Stockton streets, which is currently a towaway zone from 4-6 p.m. This would make about 30 additional residential permit parking spaces available during these hours. It would not affect the transit lanes, which are on the north side of Sacramento Street.
