Muni Service Changes: Beginning Saturday, August 17, 2024

Beginning Saturday, August 17, we will make changes on some Muni routes to improve reliability, address crowding, and respond to rider and operator feedback. The table below will provide details on the upcoming changes to service.

Service Improvements to Reduce Crowding

1 California	Type of Service Change Service frequency increase	Start Time & Date Start of service, Monday, August 19	Service Change Summary Weekday service will increase to reduce crowding on the busiest portion of the route. That section runs between Clay & Drumm streets and Presidio Avenue & California Street. On this stretch of the route, buses will now arrive every 5 minutes instead of every 6 minutes. As a result of this service increase, there will be a decrease in service for stops that are west of Presidio Avenue. Buses will arrive at these stops every 10 minutes on weekdays. We expect riders to see a reduction in bus bunching and service gaps.
9 San Bruno	Type of Service Change Larger buses to help reduce crowding	Start Time & Date Start of service, Saturday, August 17	Service Change Summary To help reduce weekend crowding, the 9 San Bruno Route will now use 60-foot-long articulated buses.
