15th Avenue and Taraval Street - Bus Stop Relocation
Monday, October 17 is the target date for the bust stop located on the southwest corner to be relocated to the southeast corner.
Monday, October 17 is the target date for the new bus stop location. The new bus stop will be relocated from 15th and Taraval, southwest corner to the southeast corner, in front of Kelley-Moore Paints, 445 Taraval Street. The relocation will be until the end of construction when the new tracks are laid, and the L Taraval rail service is reactivated, expected in the fall of 2024.
The L Taraval Improvement construction project requires the relocation of the bus stop from the southwest corner to the southeast corner of 15th Avenue and Taraval Street in front of Kelly-Moore Paints, 445 Taraval Street. The reason for the bus stop relocation is to offer the necessary space for construction of the new water and sewer lines at the intersection of the southeast corner of Taraval Street and 15th Avenue.
As of July 9, since Muni Metro rail service has resumed, the L Taraval Bus route has returned to its original routing to West Portal supporting construction of the L Taraval Improvement Project. At the start of the project on Segment A, from SF Zoo to Sunset Boulevard, the L Taraval Bus was activated serving the community from SF Zoo to West Portal. The L Taraval bus substitution is a temporary service that was put in place at the start of the L Taraval Improvement Project construction (before the pandemic). When the rail system was shut down at the start of the pandemic as an emergency response, the L Bus was extended to downtown.
This change also increased the frequency of the L Bus from every 10 minutes to every 8 minutes on weekdays, and every 10 minutes instead of every 12 minutes on weekends and to address crowding and wait times.
