You’ve all been waiting for it—and we’re delivering. Starting tomorrow, keep an eye out for the new LRV4's running as two-car trains. The inaugural two-car coupling will go to the N-Judah line, the workhorse of our Metro rail service with the highest ridership.

State regulators have issued the certification to begin running two-car train service, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to offer more reliable transportation to the city of San Francisco. Two-car trains mean less crowding and more room between destinations.

So far we have over 25 new LRV 4’s in San Francisco, and coupling them together is the next exciting part of this program. The new trains offer many upgrades from faster speeds to more passenger capacity. They are also easier to maintain, simpler and quicker to inspect.

Be sure to keep an eye out and post your pictures in the comments section below. You can follow Cars 2009 and 2012 on their inaugural journey tomorrow on our Twitter page: @sfmta_muni
