The 38R Geary is one of our Muni Forward routes, and we're excited to celebrate the program's 10th anniversary this Transit Month.

September is right around the corner, and it's a special time here at the SFMTA. It's Transit Month!

We've been preparing for an engaging month of celebrations dedicated to public transportation. And this year stands out because it's also the 10th anniversary of Muni Forward.

Since 2014, we've built 100 miles of improvements through our Muni Forward program. The goal: make Muni the best way to get around the city. These upgrades have reduced wait times, increased ridership and improved safety citywide.

We're looking forward to celebrating these improvements with you.

We'll share more about Transit Month and the events we're hosting with help from our partners.

What is Transit Month?

Transit Month recognizes the importance of public transit in our city. It's organized by SF Transit Riders and other transit-oriented agencies and groups. Events bring together residents, transit fans and policymakers.

Together, we acknowledge how important is to have a transit system that's:

  • Efficient
  • Reliable
  • Accessible

It's a time to celebrate how transit connects our diverse communities. It's also a time to recognize how transit provides equitable access to all that our city offers.
