Beginning next Friday, July 31 the Muni Metro subway will shut down nightly as early as 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. until January 2016 for radio and emergency communication systems upgrades. During shutdowns, Muni Metro light rail vehicles will operate on the surface only with bus shuttles providing service between St. Francis Circle and Embarcadero Station. BART will close the Transbay Tube the weekend of August 1 and again on the Labor Day weekend of September 5. During these shutdowns there will be no train service between San Francisco and the East Bay. Bus shuttles will transport patrons across the bay. Visit BART’s project webpage for complete details. Events:
The San Francisco Giants return to AT&T Park this Friday for a six game home stand with matchups against the Oakland A’s and the Milwaukee Brewers. Don’t forget that Muni service will get you to and from the ballpark. Also, the Up Your Alley Fair is on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the 12 Folsom/Pacific will have a re-route.
SF Marathon

The Embarcadero
If you’ve been looking to break a serious sweat, then this Sunday just may do it. The San Francisco Marathon is more than just(!) one 26.2-mile race; there will actually be five races. Runners have the opportunity to race in either the full marathon, two half marathons, a 5K run or the ultimate endurance test – the ultramarathon, which is two full marathons totaling 52.4 miles. Who’s game for that one?!
If you're planning on heading down to The Embarcadero and Folsom for the full marathon finish line to cheer someone on, your best transportation option will be to take the Muni Metro Subway to Embarcadero Station.
Muni service note: the F Market, 6 Haight/Parnassus, 7 Haight/Noriega, 10 Townsend, 19 Polk, 22 Fillmore, 24 Divisadero, 28 19th Avenue, 29 Sunset, 33 Ashbury/18th Street, 37 Corbett, 43 Masonic, 44 O’Shaughnessy, 48 Quintara/24th Street, and 55 16th Street routes will have re-routes.
