This week's trip back in time pays a small tribute the truly multi-modal nature of our city's transportation network. From buses and trains to bikes and cars, our streets see virtually all forms of transportation and those modes are sometimes pretty unusual and unique.
This shot, one in a series of photos highlighting various small business commercial districts around the city, captures one mode that is truly one-of-a-kind. This guy chose to roll around town (or through town, note the suitcase and rolled up sleeping bag) in his own style on this customized motor tricycle. Are those wood grain decals I see detailing the handmade fiberglass bodywork?
No doubt Muni Photographer Lester Teal got a kick out of this one while he was out shooting at Noe Valley Tacos at 4042 24th Street.
