Be sure to hop on, Ride Muni Free on New Year’s Eve. Muni will be providing free transit service on all routes and lines, including the cable car lines, from 8 p.m. on December 31 until 5 a.m. on January 1.
Let local transit take you there! Once again, the SFMTA and 76 have teamed up to make sure you get home safe. This program supports San Francisco’s Vision Zero goal to eliminate traffic fatalities.
So, leave the car keys at home, hop on a Muni bus, train or cable car and let public transportation be your safe sober ride. Metro fare gates will be open starting at 8 p.m.
The safest place to start the new year is in the passenger seat, so Ride Muni Free on New Year’s Eve. Here are some highlights on New Year’s Eve Muni service:
- Extra Muni Metro service all night
- Between West Portal and Embarcadero stations until 5 a.m.
- Between West Portal Station and 4th & King until 2:15 a.m.
- Extra Owl service from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m.
