As flowers bloom in the park this colorful spring weekend, cheer for orange and black at AT&T Park and celebrate with a festival where you can turn your friends into living rainbows.
Battle of the Bay – Giants vs A’s Baseball Game
Thursday and Friday, 7:15 p.m.
AT&T Park
Gearing up for the upcoming 162-game baseball season, the Giants will play a pair of night games on Thursday and Friday against their cross-bay rivals, the Oakland A’s. With Bay Area bragging rights on the line, this is the chance for each team to build momentum to carry into Opening Day on April 10. A third game will be held in this series in Oakland on Saturday.
How to Get There on Muni: The N Judah, T Third, 10 Townsend, 30 Stockton, 45 Union/Stockton and 47 Van Ness routes will take you near AT&T Park.
Muni service note: Muni will provide additional ballpark shuttle train service to assist fans before and after the game. Patrons should expect minor service delays on lines and routes that serve the ballpark area due to heavier pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Holi: Indian Festival of Colors
Saturday, noon to 3 p.m.
California College of the Arts, 111 8th Street (near 16th Street)
Celebrate the ancient Hindu festival of Holi, where participants extol the colors and vitality of spring by throwing eco-friendly, water-soluble dyed powders of every color at one another until they resemble human rainbows. The event will also have food, performances and a live DJ.
The event is hosted by Asha for Education’s San Francisco chapter (Asha SF) and the California College of the Arts. All proceeds will be used to fund grassroots education projects in India.
How to Get There on Muni: The 10 Townsend, 19 Polk, 22 Fillmore and 55 16th Street routes will take you near the CCA campus.

Dramatic Bloom of Weird and Wild Flowers
This weekend through August; sale this Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
San Francisco Botanical Garden, Golden Gate Park
With this winter’s exceptionally wet weather comes the promise of a bountiful bloom at the San Francisco Botanical Garden. From April through August, the Garden’s extensive collection of remarkable and rare plants from around the globe comes to life and brings with it a host of pollinators including rare, local butterflies.
Admission to the Botanical Gardens is free with proof of San Francisco residency. The monthly plant sale takes place outside the admission area this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
How to Get There on Muni: The N Judah Line, 7 Haight-Noriega, 28 19th Avenue and 29 Sunset routes will take riders to within walking distance of the Botanical Gardens.

Upcoming CPMC Construction Street Closure
As part of the ongoing construction of the new CPMC Van Ness Campus Hospital, Post Street, between Franklin Street and Van Ness Avenue, will be closed to vehicle traffic from midnight on Thursday, Apr. 6 until the early morning of Monday, Apr. 10. View the detailed map for detour options.
Van Ness Construction Reminder
All left turn lanes on Van Ness Avenue have been removed with the exceptions of those at Broadway (southbound) and temporarily at Hayes Street (northbound).
Van Ness traffic lanes have been reduced from three to two on these segments:
- Both directions from Lombard to Mission Street
- Northbound from Post to Filbert Street
- Southbound from Filbert to Washington Street
