Key capital elements of the SF Paratransit program include our vehicles, maintenance facilities, administrative offices, dispatch and scheduling systems, as well as other customer service infrastructure.

The Paratransit Fleet

Transdev, the SFMTA’s paratransit broker, operates three leased facilities in Brisbane, California. Vehicle maintenance is performed at 290 Industrial Way, and administrative offices are located at 150 Executive Park Boulevard. Vehicles are stored and dispatched from 575 Tunnel Avenue. This includes the entire 138-vehicle paratransit fleet, which consists of :

  • 43 Ford 350HD Commute vans.
  • 68 Ford 450 Universal vans.
  • 21 Dodge Caravan minivans.
  • 6 Prius Prime sedans.

Paratransit Data Collection

The SFMTA’s Paratransit program is required to provide data to local, state and federal agencies. The success of paratransit operations is also dependent on accurate data. Paratransit planners track:

  • ADA Paratransit Eligibility Enrollment.
  • Trip data relating to paratransit taxi and van rides.
  • Formal complaints on services provided.
  • Fare tracking information for taxi and van rides.
  • Other data related to transportation costs.

Paratransit Software

The SFMTA’s Paratransit program uses two types of software keeping track of information related to paratransit services.

  • Trapeze manages passenger information and schedules van rides. It also helps with planning and tracking any complaints and commendations from passengers.
  • Cabconnect’s CardOne  works with Trapeze to handle debit cards for taxi paratransit taxi rides. It is also used by taxi companies to track the performance of taxi trips.

In 2009, SF Paratransit introduced debit card payments for taxi trips, replacing paper scrips. The Debit Card Central System (DCCS) stores information about these trips and lets passengers add money to their cards. They can do this in person, by mail, over the phone or online. The DCCS also collects data that helps plan services and make sure taxi companies follow program rules.

SFMTA Paratransit also manages two online scheduling platforms for riders to schedule rides with paratransit or taxi services. They are SF Access Online and SF Taxi Online
