Stop Changes to Muni Routes 29 and 49 & Detours on Ocean Avenue

CURRENT ANTICIPATED COMPLETION DATE: December 24, 2016 (weather permitting)

For approximately one month anticipated to start Friday, November 11, we will need to close eastbound Ocean Avenue between Geneva and San Jose avenues to make improvements around the Balboa Park Station. To accommodate the closures, Muni routes 29-Sunset and 49-Mission/Van Ness will be rerouted to Geneva Avenue.

29-Sunset and 49-Van Ness/Mission Eastbound Temporary Reroute:

Reroutes for 29 and 49

Lines 29-Sunset and 49-VanNess/Mission in the Eastbound direction will be rerouted to Geneva Ave to accommodate street closures on Ocean Avenue.

*Please note that the stop on Ocean Avenue and I-280 (westbound) will not be in service during this time. Please board the 29 and 49 on Ocean and San Jose. All other westbound stops will remain unchanged.

Traffic Impacts on Ocean Avenue

Traffic Impacts on Ocean Avenue:

  • Eastbound Ocean Ave closed between Geneva and San Jose Avenues

  • The I-280 Northbound entrance will only have access on weekdays.

  • Ocean Ave Westbound will remain open

  • Howth St. will be temporarily converted to a two-way street for local access only.

Improvements will include traffic/train signal upgrades, track work, pedestrian lighting and curb ramp upgrades on Ocean Ave and I-280 as part of the Balboa Park Station Area and Plaza Improvements project.
