Construction is progressing for the Balboa Park Station Area and Plaza Improvements project, which broke ground this past February. The contractor has finished the sidewalk widening on the southside of Geneva Avenue (between I-280 and San Jose Avenue), and is now moving on to the reconstruction of the median island and sidewalk widening of the north side of Geneva Avenue. As a result, temporary impacts will include:

Bus Stop Relocation

To complete sidewalk widening, the bus stop located westbound on Geneva Avenue between I-280 and San Jose Avenue will be temporarily relocated from Monday, April 18 to Thursday, June 30.

  • Customers riding the following Muni routes will board from the temporary stop on Geneva Avenue at San Jose Avenue:
    • 8 Bayshore
    • 8BX Bayshore B Express
    • 43 Masonic
    • 54 Felton
    • 88 BART Shuttle
    • 91-Owl

Lane Closures:

To reconstruct the center median island, traffic on Geneva Avenue between I-280 and San Jose Avenue has been taken down to one lane in each direction. This work will last about one month.

Closures are scheduled weekdays between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to avoid peak-hour congestion. Motorists should exercise caution and anticipate delays in this area and are encouraged to use alternative routes during this time.
