UPDATE:
A public hearing is scheduled for November 13, 2009 to legislate curb bulb-outs, the shifting and addition of truck loading zones, and the removal of bus zones. The public hearing will be held at City Hall (1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place) in Room 416 at 10:00 AM.
This legislation is part of the Renewed Valencia Streetscape Project to widen sidewalks between 15th and 19th Streets. The project is removing the center lane often used for truck loading purposes and is adding nine new curb bulb-outs. To accommodate curbside truck loading, several loading zones are being added or shifted to discourage double parking and blockages of the bike lanes. Red zones will be added to prevent parking next to the bulb-outs. Here is a summary of these changes:
- On April 30, 2009, elimination of the #26 Muni line was approved by the SFMTA Board. The #26 will be discontinued in December 2009 and much of the bus zone space will be reallocated to curb bulb-outs and truck loading zones.
- There are currently 26 metered yellow zones in the project area. That number will increase to 32 with this proposal.
- Two general metered parking spaces will be lost within the project area.
