Analyzing the Transit Potential - TEP Key Findings

  • Market Research. This work included a review of current and projected land use/demographics and local/regional travel patterns; examination of existing transit ridership trends; and consumer research to identify the factors that shape people’s travel decisions and assess potential markets for transit in San Francisco.
  • Service Evaluation. This work sought to provide a detailed understanding of Muni’s network of transit services, identify service successes and challenges, and apply the findings to the development of future TEP service recommendations.
  • Operations Review. The focus of this work was to examine the key operations functions that impact Muni service reliability, and included peer comparisons, data analysis, and interviews with SFMTA managers, schedulers, dispatchers, supervisors, maintenance staff and others.
