Regular Service to the Cow Palace:

The following lines offer regular service to the Cow Palace. Links are to schedules at transit.511.org.

All of these lines are accessible.

Regular Muni fares apply for Cow Palace service.


How to get to the Cow Palace from within S.F.

From the Richmond District, take the 1, 2, 5, 31, or 38 lines downtown and transfer to an outbound 8X. Or take the 29 south and transfer to an inbound 8X.

From the Sunset District, take the N or 71 downtown and transfer to an outbound 8X. Or take the 29 south and transfer to an inbound 8X.

From the Parkside District, take the L downtown and transfer to an outbound 8X. Or take the 29 south and transfer to an inbound 8X.

From northeast San Francisco, take an outbound 8X.

From Balboa Park BART, take an inbound 8X.

From other parts of San Francisco:

  • The following bus routes and rail lines connect with the 8X or 8BX routes:
    F, J, K, L, M, N, T, 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8AX, 9, 9L, 10, 12, 14, 14L, 14X, 21, 27, 29, 30, 31, 38, 38L, 39, 41, 43, 44, 45, 47, 49, 54, 56, 71 and California Cable Car.
  • The following bus routes and rail lines connect with the 9 Route:
    F, J, K, L, M, N, T, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8AX, 9L, 10, 12, 14, 14L, 14X, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27, 29, 31, 33, 38, 38L, 44, 47, 48, 49, 54, 56, 71 and California Cable Car.
  • The 76 Route connects to both the 8X and the 9 Sunday and major holiday daytime only.

Transfering from other agencies

From BART to Muni:

  1. Leave BART at Balboa Park Station. If you pay with cash value using an adult Clipper card on both BART and Muni, you will get a 25-cent discount on the Muni fare in both directions.
  2. Exit via the faregates near the station agent booth and proceed forward through the pedestrian underpass to the right of the street escalators, then go up to Geneva Avenue.
  3. Board the 8X Bayshore Express toward Fisherman's Wharf.
  4. Alight at Santos and Geneva, about a block from the Cow Palace.
  5. Customers returning to BART on Muni must pay the regular fare. BART-to-Muni-to-BART customers paying with cash value on an adult Clipper card get a 25-cent discount from the Muni fare.

Leaving the Cow Palace

Return by the same route that you used to get to the Cow Palace. Since Muni transfers are only good for 90 minutes, you will have to pay a new fare.
