About the SFMTA Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass ProgramPara información en Español llame 311. 索取相關中文資料, 請致電311。What is the Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass Program? The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) Board of Directors and the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) Board of Directors have approved a pilot program to allow senior and disabled customers unlimited access to BART in San Francisco and on all Muni transit services with the purchase of a Muni Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass. All fare gates operated by BART within San Francisco will be programmed to accept the Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass and the pass will be accepted on all Muni vehicles. If successful, it is expected that long-term implementation will be made available on TransLink®. What Advantages Are There to Being in This Program?Previous to establishing the current program, only Muni Adult Fast Pass purchasers were offered unlimited use of BART within the City and County of San Francisco along with all regular transit services available on Muni. The current program will test the functionality, popularity and potential costs of implementing a similar program for senior and disabled Muni customers. How Can I Participate? In order to participate in this pilot program, seniors and persons with disabilities must register for a random lottery by going to the SFMTA Web site at www.sfmta.com/pilotpass or by calling 311. The pilot program will be comprised of three, separate, six-month trial groups. To be eligible for the first of the three trial groups, a senior or disabled customer must register no later than November 30. Each six months of the pilot program, 2,000 participants will be randomly selected to receive the Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass. Registration is continuous; all registrants will remain in the pool for the following two trial periods, which will occur at six-month intervals. Registrants may be randomly selected for more than one pilot group. What Happens If I’m Selected? If you are selected to participate, you will receive a ticket voucher book containing six tear-off vouchers. Each voucher entitles the customer to purchase a one-month Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass. The monthly Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass will be sold for the same price as the current Senior Pass or monthly Disabled Sticker. The one-month pass will only be available for purchase the third week* of each month and only at the following SFMTA retail locations:
What Do I Need for Proof of Age or Disability? Persons with disabilities will be required to demonstrate eligibility for the Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass with their Regional Transit Connection (RTC) Discount ID Card. Seniors will also be required to present either the RTC ID card or another government issued ID to verify age. All program participants will be required to carry both their purchased pass and their valid form of ID at all times to verify age or disability when using Muni or BART within San Francisco. These passes may only be used by the person for whom they are issued. Any violation will result in a revocation of the Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass. Muni and BART Station Agents, Muni Operators and Proof-of-Payment Officers will be trained to verify and validate the Senior/Disabled Pilot Pass.
