When and Where to Buy Monthly Passes
Online sales
- Visit Clipper® at clippercard.com to download your monthly pass to your Clipper or RTC ID card.
- Hours: 24 hours per day.
- Days: 7 days a week.
- Sales period for upcoming month starts on the 17th of the prior month.
Retailers that load Clipper and RTC ID cards
Muni Ticket Vending Machines
- Location: Muni Ticket Vending Machines can be found in all Muni Metro subway stations.
- Hours: All Metro Station hours.
- Days: All days of the year.
SFMTA-operated sales locations
The following sales locations are operated by the SFMTA. These accept
Visa®, MasterCard®, traveler's checks, money orders, Commuter Check® vouchers, business checks and cash. Personal checks are not accepted.
Bay and Taylor Cable Car Kiosk
- Location: Bay and Taylor Cable Car Turnaround.
- Hours:
noon to 6 p.m.
- Days: seven days a week, excluding major holidays.
- Sales Period:
- Last five business days of prior month.
- Throughout month for which pass is valid.
Hyde and Beach Cable Car Kiosk
- Location: Hyde and Beach Cable Car Turnaround.
- Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Days: seven days a week, excluding major holidays.
- Sales Period:

- Throughout month for which pass is valid.
Powell and Market Cable Car Kiosk
- Location: Powell and Market Cable Car Turnaround.

SFMTA Presidio Sales Kiosk
- Clipper cards.
- Lifeline passes for qualified purchasers.
- Location: Geary Boulevard at Presidio Avenue, northwest corner near bus shelter.

- Days: seven days a week, excluding major holidays.
- Sales Period:
- Last five business days of prior month for passes.
SFMTA Customer Service Center
- Clipper cards.
- Lifeline passes for qualified purchasers.
- Location: 11 South Van Ness Avenue.
- Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m..
- Days: Monday through Friday.
- Sales Period:
- Last five business days of prior month.
- First five business days of month for which pass is valid.
- There is a $3 fee charged at the Customer Service Center when purchasing fare media, except for the Lifeline Pass.

City Payment Center
- Location: City Hall 1st Floor.
- Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m..

Neighborhood Stores

Bulk purchases
Fare media purchases of 20 or more items, are considered bulk purchases. Please direct all inquiries regarding bulk purchases to
Revenue.Sales@sfmta.com. There are no discounts for bulk purchases. Tokens are not available for general public purchase.
Please allow two business days for processing.
Monthly passes are not available for bulk purchases through this program. To purchase most monthly passes, visit a Clipper retailer, Clippercard.com, call 877.878.8883 or go to a Muni Metro station Ticket Vending (TVM). Visit Clippercard.com for more info.
