Transfers to AC Transit OWL Service
L-OWL, N-OWL, 5, 14, 38, 90, 91, 108

Effective Friday night (Saturday morning), December 9, 2005, AC Transit is providing line 800 (San Francisco-Richmond) service to the East Bay, connecting in the East Bay with several other lines, including one to Concord. The initial 7-days-a-week schedule is for hourly service leaving Market & Van Ness at 1:02, 2:02, 3:02, 4:02, and 5:02 am. The 800-line stops and schedule are subject to change; visit the AC Transit Web site for the most current 800 schedule (offsite link). Muni schedules are also subject to change; please follow the [schedule] links to the schedules at 511.org.

to or from the 800-line at the following stops:

  • Market after Van Ness (southeast corner, at curb)
    • Timed connection with 90-OWL [schedule] in both directions.
    • Timed connection with West Portal service OWL lines (L-OWL [schedule] throughout the night, then M-OWL [schedule] or K-OWL [schedule] in early morning) in both directions
    • Connection with N-OWL [schedule], with a 15-minute wait in both directions
    • Connection to 14-MISSION [schedule] is one block away.
      • Transfer from inbound 14 to 800:
        • Walk to Market at South Van Ness (southeast corner).
        • The 14 runs at least every 15 minutes until 2 am.
        • After 2 am, you will have about 14 minutes to make this transfer.
      • Transfer from 800 to outbound 14:
        • Walk to Otis at South Van Ness and Mission (northwest corner).
        • The 800 arrives from the East Bay about 10 minutes to the hour.
        • The 14 runs at least every 15 minutes until 2 am.
        • After 2 am, you will need to wait about 22 minutes for the next 14 bus.
  • Market between 8th and 7th (mid-block, at curb)
    • Connection with 5-FULTON [schedule] terminal on McAllister at 7th.
      • Transfer from 5 to 800:
        • Walk from McAllister and 7th Street to the 800 stop between 7th and 8th.
        • The schedule gives you about 5 minutes to make this transfer.
      • Alternate connection from 5 to 800:
        1. Transfer from the 5-line to the southbound 90-line at McAllister & Van Ness ( timed transfer).
        2. At Van Ness & Market, transfer from the 90-line to the 800-line (timed).
      • Transfer from 800 to 5:
        • You will need to wait about 25 minutes for the next 5 bus to arrive at McAllister and 7th Street. You may want to use the alternate connection below, which is timed.
      • Alternate connection from 800 to 5:
        1. At Market & Van Ness, transfer from the 800-line to the northbound 90-line (timed transfer).
        2. Transfer again from the 90-line to the 5-line at Van Ness & McAllister (also timed).
  • Market between 5th and 4th (mid-block, at curb)
    • Connection with outbound (clockwise) 91-OWL [schedule] toward Bayview and West Portal, on 4th after Market (southwest corner).
      • Transfer from 91 to 800:
        • Walk from the 4th & Market stop to the 800-line stop between 4th & 5th.
        • The schedule provides about 6 minutes to make this transfer.
      • Transfer from 800 to 91:
        • Walk forward from the 800-line Powell BART stop to 4th Street.
        • You will need to wait about 22 minutes for the next 91 bus.
        • There is no alternate timed connection available for this transfer.
  • Market after 3rd (southeast corner, at curb)
    • Connection with 38-GEARY [schedule]
      • Transfer from 38 to 800:
        • Transfer is at the same stop.
        • The schedule gives you about 7 minutes to make this transfer.
      • Transfer from 800 to 38:
        • Cross diagonally to Geary across Kearney.
        • You will need to wait about 19 minutes for the next 38 bus.
    • Connection with inbound (counter-clockwise) 91-OWL [schedule] toward Chinatown, North Beach, and the Marina District to SF State University.
      • Transfer from 91 to 800:
        • Walk from the 3rd & Market stop to the 800-line stop at Market near Montgomery BART.
        • The schedule provides about 8 minutes to make this transfer.
      • Transfer from 800 to 91:
        • Walk back from the 800-line Montgomery BART stop to 3th Street, then south toward Mission.
        • You will need to wait about 20 minutes for the next 91 bus.
        • If you plan to take the 91-line west of Van Ness Avenue to the Marina, Richmond or Sunset District, an alternate transfer would be:
          1. At Market & Van Ness, transfer from the 800-line to the 90-line (timed transfer).
          2. At Van Ness & Chestnut, transfer from the 90-line to the 91-line (also timed).
  • Market at 1st (southwest corner, at curb)
  • 1st between Mission and Howard (on island, underneath Transbay Terminal)
    • Connection with 108-TREASURE ISLAND [schedule] on Muni ramp in front of Transbay Terminal.
      • The 108-line runs every 45 minutes during Owl hours, so waiting times will vary.

Transfers to SamTrans OWL Service:
L-OWL, N-OWL, 14, 22, 38, 91, 108

The southbound 397 (offsite link-pdf file) serves San Mateo County from the Transbay Terminal, Civic Center, and Potrero Avenue/Bayshore Boulvard hourly after 1 am. There are also trips leaving until just before midnight on the southbound 292 (offsite link). Both lines serve San Francisco Airport (SFO).
