|
Rail lines: J, K/T, L, M, N. Due to construction, the Montgomery Station street elevator will be out of service. Use Powell or Embarcadero stations for accessible service. Montgomery Elevator to Be Closed On September 9, the street elevator at Montgomery Station will be closed to replace the structure which houses the elevator entrance at the street level. The elevator will be shut down for approximately three and one-half months (until December) during construction. People who rely on the elevator to enter and exit at Montgomery should enter and exit at Embarcadero or Powell Stations. BART/Muni Construction Project The elevator closure is necessary as part of a major project to reconstruct the street level enclosures on the elevators of the BART/Muni Metro Stations at Civic Center, Embarcadero, Montgomery and Powell. Replacement work is necessary to maintain compliance with state standards, extend the life of the equipment and improve the reliability of the elevator doors. Construction will be done one station at a time. While an individual station is being worked on, only the street elevator at that station will be closed. Platform elevators will stay in service. Station work will proceed in the following order:
Alternatives To Montgomery: While the Montgomery Street elevator is closed, BART and Muni customers are advised to exit at the Embarcadero or Powell Street BART/Muni stations. The Embarcadero Station elevator is located on Market and Main, approximately three and one-half blocks from the location of the Montgomery Station street elevator. If customers are unable to proceed from Embarcadero or Powell Station to their destination under their own power, they can take any of the following Muni buses which stop on Market, near Drumm and Powell:
