About Collective Bargaining Agreements

A Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), also known as a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), is an agreement between the SFMTA or The City and an employee union. Some unions may have multiple agreements with the SFMTA or The City depending on employee job classification.

Abbreviations used on this page:

  • IAMAW: International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (also referred to as "Automotive Machinists" or "Machinists Union").
  • IBEW: International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
  • IFPTE: International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
  • MEA: Municipal Executives Association.
  • SEIU: Service Employees International Union.
  • TWU: Transport Workers Union of America.

City & County Agreements

Employees not covered by the above agreements are covered by City & County of San Francisco CBAs.
