Cinco de Mayo, Sunset Tunnel & More!

Wednesday, April 29, 2015

Construction Projects Alert:

Sunset Tunnel work resumes this Friday at 7 p.m. and continues until 2 a.m. Monday. Bus shuttles will provide N Judah Line service between Duboce Avenue and Church Street and Ocean Beach. During construction, Nextbus time predictions for the N Line will not be available.

This weekend is a great time to be a sports fan with horse racing, big time boxing and our San Francisco Giants back in town for a 10-game home stand beginning with the Los Angeles Angels. Don’t forget that Muni service will take you to and from AT&T Park. If you’re not into sports, don’t fret as there are plenty of options for you. In the mood for a block party? Check out Inner Sunset Sundays on Irving Street between 9th and 10th avenues and make sure you definitely stop by these events:

Cinco De Mayo
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Valencia Street between 21st and 24th streets.

A common misunderstanding about Cinco De Mayo is that it’s a celebration of Mexican independence, it's not. Cinco De Mayo commemorates the Mexican Army’s victory over the French Army at the Battle of Puebla in 1852. This year’s celebrations will feature traditional Mexican dance, music, art and, of course, great food. A special Kid’s Zone, in addition to fun and games, will allow children to learn about various musical instruments.

Due to street closures, parking will be limited, so consider taking public transportation. Muni service on the 12 Folsom/Pacific, 14 Mission, 14R Mission Rapid, 48 Quintara and 67 Bernal Heights routes will get you there

Muni service note:  While there will be no service re-routes, service in the area may see delays due to increased ridership.

Urban Air Market
Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Hayes Valley

Creating a thriving marketplace for sustainable innovation and underground designs, the Urban Air Market provides local designers with a platform to showcase their apparel, accessories, home goods and body products. In addition to the browsing and shopping, there will be acoustic musical performances and a live art installation.

Parking around Patricia’s Green Park will be limited, so in the spirit of sustainability utilize the 21 Hayes Route.

Muni service note: While the 21 Hayes will not have a re-route, service in the area may see delays due to increased ridership.
